Travelling to:
South Luangwa National Park, Lower Zambezi and Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
duration:
11 Days - 10 Nights
-
This safari covers two of the premier parks in Zambia - The South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi as well as Livingstone, home to the spectacular Victoria Falls.
The Luangwa Valley, which marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, is one of the last unspoiled wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa. The Luangwa River flows into the Zambezi River - just below the Lower Zambezi National Park. This park, scenically bordered by an impressive escarpment, has excellent game, which can be viewed from either the river or by land. Quietly drifting past a huge elephant feeding on the river bank is a great experience.
Livingstone is home to one of 7 natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls, and offers many opportunities, both adrenaline filled and more sedate, to view this amazing site. There are game viewing opportunities too, with a chance to see the white rhino in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park and river trips on the Zambezi River.
Combining these three areas in Zambia offers you an exceptional safari.
Highlights
-
Livingstone
The city of Livingstone is often visited as the gateway to Zambia. This is not a surprise when you learn that it is only 11km from the Zambia side of the incredible Victoria Falls. There is also plenty here to extend your stay.
-
Victoria Falls
Resting on the southern banks of the mighty Zambezi river at the western end of the eponymous falls of the same name, the popular tourist town of Victoria Falls is compact enough to walk around and makes and ideal base for travellers exploring the seventh wonder of the world.
-
South Luangwa National Park
The southernmost of the three national parks of the Luangwa River, South Luangwa National Park is a world-renowned wildlife haven. The river provides for a huge variety of both animal and birdlife.
-
Lower Zambezi National Park
Lower Zambezi National Park is a relatively untouched natural beauty. Its isolated location, coupled with the larger surrounding game management area, means you are unlikely to encounter another tourist whilst traveling around.
