  • Uganda is known as the “Pearl of Africa”, and it is definitely the jewel of primate encounters. This itinerary is designed to showcase the best gems in Uganda’s Albertine Rift region. 

    You begin in Kampala before heading to the iconic Kibale Forest to trek for chimpanzees and two days in the mountain gorilla country of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park with the chance to trek twice to see different family groups before taking in some of the scenic beauty of the countryside as you head back to the nations capital.

    In southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley lies Uganda's oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests which dates back over 25,000 years.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Travelling

    Depart London Heathrow for your overnight flight via to Entebbe.

     

    Day 2 - Lake Victoria

    Staying at: Kampala Serena Hotel

    Arrive at the airport, met and transferred to Kampala. Overnight at Kampala Serena Hotel on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

     

    Day 3 - Kibale Forest National Park

    Staying at: Ndali Lodge

    Head west after breakfast through Mubende arriving in Fort Portal for lunch. Later proceed to enjoy an afternoon guided walk in the vanilla plantation, walk around the crater lake/birding (at Ndali lodge) or a crater lake rim walk/cultural village walk (at Kyaninga Lodge) – all activities at no extra costs. Dinner and overnight at the Ndali Lodge (or Kyaninga Lodge)on a Full Board basis.

     

    Day 4 - Kibale Forest National Park

    Staying at: Ndali Lodge

    Morning breakfast, later start a half day search of the cheeky chimpanzees in the forest, also look out for the Red Colobus (an endemic species only found in this forest in Uganda). Other primates include the Chimpanzee, Grey Cheeked Mangabey and others. In the afternoon, take a swamp walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary for a closer to nature encounter. Return to Ndali Lodge (or Kyaninga Lodge).

     

    Day 5 - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

    Staying at: Buhoma Lodge

    Breakfast, later travel to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with picnic lunches (TRANSIT TIME 6 HOURS). Drive through the Ishasha Plains the area famous for its tree climbing Lions. Arrive at Buhoma the Gorilla Staging area where dinner and overnight is at Buhoma Lodge on a Full Board basis.

  • Day 6 - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

    Staying at: Buhoma Lodge

    Gorilla trekking starts after breakfast. The rangers and trackers through the thick and steep vegetation track the Gorillas. After viewing the gorillas, have your picnic lunch and return to Buhoma Lodge

     

    Day 7 - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

    Staying at: Buhoma Lodge

    Second day of Gorilla trekking. This time to a different group of Mountain Gorillas. Return to the first Class Service of the Camp for Cocktails, wines, Beers and Soda at the viewing deck overlooking the forest. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Lodge

     

    Day 8 - Kampala

    Staying at: Kampala Serena Hotel

    Take a scenic drive to Kampala, through the mountainous area of Kigezi and the Ankole area with its Long Horned cattle before arriving Kampala in the evening. Overnight at Kampala Serena Hotel on a Bed & Breakfast basis .

     

    Day 9 - Departure

    Breakfast at the Hotel before airport transfer for departure to Entebbe Airport.
