  • A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982, Selous Game Reserve has long been noted for its importance of wildlife diversity and undisturbed nature. A huge range species are resident and a variety of habitats make it a must visit in southern Tanzania.

Environments inside the reserve vary from grassland, Acacia savanna, wetlands and extensive Miombo woodlands. The Rufiji River features a designated photographic area which provides ample opportunity to capture the wildlife and birdlife. Typical wildlife in the reserve are elephant, black rhino, hippo, lion, Cape buffaloes, giraffe, zebra and crocodile.

The scale of Selous Game Reserve provides for a wide variety of options when looking for the right experience for you. Alongside the traditional vehicular game drives, you can also enjoy walking safaris, boat trips on the Rufiji, and the opportunity to visit the local Masaai villages.
