"When on a family safari we have travelled with children as young 3 years old and really put the child friendly lodges to the test. Children are incredibly well looked after and set challenges at some lodges to find animal prints, dung beetle balls, warthog tusks, just to name a few. There are child minders available to look after your little ones whilst the adults travel out on game drives. There is usually an option to hire a private vehicle so that you can travel out on game drives as a family – watch the littles ones faces when they see a herd of elephant for the first time!

Guided tours can be as part of a group tour or as a private tour. Some people find comfort in having a guided tour for the first visit to Africa. All our guides are qualified and incredibly knowledgeable. Each day you will learn something new. Being on a guided tour means that you don’t have to do the driving and you can sit back and enjoy the scenery, simply watching the watching the world go by.

A Rail tour is a trip that is often on a bucket list and it is a very special way to travel through Africa. Rovos Rail has a superb trip that commences in Dar es Salaam and ends in Cape Town, visiting 6 countries. The trains through Africa give you a feeling of travelling in a by-gone era. Excursions are included with your trip as is food and beverages. Like our guided tours, there will be knowledgeable guides travelling with you.

Taking a honeymoon in Africa is incredibly popular and why shouldn’t be; romantic sunsets, adventure, pampering at spas, privacy in your very own lodge, and, of course, fantastic food and wine. There are many choices; combine your honeymoon in Botswana with Mauritius or the Seychelles, choose Kenya or Tanzania safari with a beach stay in Zanzibar, alternatively take an adventure trip through Namibia and explore the famous sand dunes at Sossusvlei, a trip to South Africa ending at a secluded beach lodge in Mozambique on the white sands in the archipelagos is picture perfect ending to an African safari.

An adventure trip to many countries in Africa is a fun way to travel. Many adventure tours travel through Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and even include trekking to see the gorillas in Uganda or Rwanda. A trip to see the gorillas in their natural habitat can be hugely expensive but travelling on an adventure tour makes this a possibility for many people. We find our adventure tours suit a wide variety of people; single travellers who have the opportunity to travel with like minded people, people on a budget along with people who like to travel on participation tours, whichever way you have the chance to experience Africa and all it has to offer.

We mentioned gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda, this does not have to be part of an adventure tour as there are many luxury lodges where gorillas have been known to saunter through the footpaths. For example, guests at Sanctuary’s Gorilla Forest Camp that is nestled deep inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, gave guests a very unexpected surprise when a family of gorillas came to visit

As you explore the forests in search of gorillas the guides, who often live with the gorillas, will inform you of their behaviour and how you should behave around them. This is a once in a life time experience, in fact it is a life changing experience!"
