  • The Cape Winelands begin just to the north-east of Cape Town, from Stellenbosch in the south to Tankwa Karoo National Park in the north, Boosmansbos Wilderness Area in the East to Cederberg Mountain Catchment Area in the West.

The region is largely mountainous with ranges of stunning sandstone peaks (some reaching heights of almost 2,000m) and lush valleys that are home to some of the country's finest vineyards. The climate is mostly considered Mediterranean with hot, dry summers and cool wet winters. Geography is diverse with escarpments, cliffs, rivers, pools, waterfalls, screes, canyons, springs, forests, caves and other natural features.

The Cape Winelands is a region renowned as the South African Culinary capital. You can discover some of the world’s finest wines here and discover a selection of South Africa's most delightful restaurants.

It would be wrong to think that the region's name tells the entire story, however. The landscape provides a paradise for artists and photographers with plenty of ways in which to take it in - balloon and helicopter rides, hiking and cycling trails, or a gentle round at one of the world-class golf courses.
