Situated in the North West Province in the heart of an extinct volcano lies Sun City, the world's largest 'playground', where people go to escape from reality.
This huge resort is not to everyone's taste, but it is ideal for families, golfers and is great for combining with a few nights safari in the nearby Pilanesberg or Madikwe Game Reserves.
There are 4 hotels to choose from, the Palace of the Lost City is the top 5 star hotel which is set slightly apart from the rest of the complex. The other hotels range from 4 to 3 star.
Inside the main complex there are a host of dining options, from A la Carte through to fast food, sushi to pasta. Children are well catered for, with amusement arcades; a bowling alley; and a cinema inside and a host of watersports and outdoor activities.
For grown ups there is a casino and a Vegas-style floor show in the evenings and a Spa and 2 Championship Golf Courses.
The resort offers day safaris into the nearby Pilanesberg National Park as well as elephant and horse back safaris.
