PERIWINKLE LODGE
A stunning seafront location in Plettenberg Bay which offers views of Robberg Beach and the Tsitsikamma mountain range from seven tastefully decorated rooms each with private balcony or patio. Enjoy breakfast outside whilst watching dolphins in the bay, then relax on the unspoilt beaches or explore the many attractions of the Garden Route.
All the rooms are individually decorated in bright, airy colours which reflect the vistas. Six of the seven rooms have balconies where guests can enjoy the panoramic view from the Robberg Peninsula to the right and the Tsitsikamma Mountains to the left. Most rooms are twin bedded but can be made up into King size beds on request. All rooms are en-suite and have TV's, direct dial telephones, personalised linen, heated towel rails, tea/coffee facilities and Bar fridges.
Periwinkle is situated on Beachyhead Drive, overlooking Robberg Peninsula, the Tsitsikamma Mountains and with direct access to Robberg Beach. The guest house is perfectly situated for leisurely walks or lazy days spent on the beach or to perfect your stop over point to explore this scenic part of the Garden Route. For golfing enthusiasts, Plettenberg Bay offers 2 superb courses and is just a few miles from Knysna & George - both towns offering world class courses. Whale & Dolphin Discovery Cruises are a highlight or you can watch from your balcony or over breakfast. Kranshoek, Natures Valley & Tsitsikamma National Park are all in close proximity for keen hikers.
Oyster tasting, elephant viewing, cruises to the Heads & Featherbed Nature Reserve as well as a journey on the Steam Train all make for interesting day trips. The unique and most exciting feature of this area is the abundance in marine mammals in the bay which is flanked by two marine nature reserves and therefore rich in food for the resident whales and dolphins. During July to September every year, Southern Right Whales migrate to this part of the Indian Ocean to calve. There are organised boat trips all year round to see Brydes whales and dolphins. Huge schools of dolphin surfing the breakers or leaping clear of the blue sea, are a regular sight throughout the year.
