Namibia – A Safari Holiday in Namibia with its compelling beauty and spectacular landscapes

Take the opportunity to see some of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders including the Fish River Canyon and the mighty sand dunes at Sossusvlei. From the coastal Namib Desert to the tropical forests and woodland savannahs of Caprivi and Kavango, a safari holiday in Namibia has an amazing variety of experiences to offer visitors.

Due to the variety of early settlers, the sparse population of Namibia is made up of over 11 different ethnic groups who all live harmoniously together in the arid landscape. The distinctive Himba people of Damaraland, the colourful Herero with their long layered skirts and distinctive hats, and to the east, the San Bushmen of the Kalahari are some of the more well known tribes that you may encounter.

Namibia has vast tracts of desert terrain and because of this, a safari in Namibia is quite different from any other that you may have experienced in other African countries.  Roughly the size of Switzerland, Etosha National Park has a vast dry salt pan at its centre with a number of waterholes strategically placed throughout the park. The park is a popular area for a safari holiday, and many people choose to self drive in the park which has an excellent road system that is easy to navigate.

Alternatively it is possible to join one of the guided game drives that are on offer from the Parks Office, or for guests staying at a lodge outside of Etosha National Park, the lodge will usually offer at least one guided game drive into Etosha each day, as well as a drive on their own reserve.

Distances in this vast country are not to be under estimated, but the roads are generally good and well sign posted, making a Namibia self drive holiday an easy, safe option. Our Namibia safari experts have driven around the country and can help you with first-hand knowledge of the best places to visit, and how many nights to stop in each location. We will happily provide you with honest and unbiased advice for a safari holiday in Namibia
