KIRKMANS KAMP
This original homestead built in the 1920’s is located on the Sand River with unspoilt views as far as the eye can see. The colonial atmosphere remains in the rustic bar which houses a vast array of memorabilia of bygone times. There is an outdoor boma, gym, tennis court and a large rim-flow swimming pool with sundeck.
Accommodation is in 18 chalets, each with its own balcony with views across the bush. Each spacious room has an en suite bathroom with victorian style claw foot bath tub and a separate shower.
The main lodge area has a large bar with seating areas and a quiet lounge with books and memorabilia for clients to browse.
Measl are served in the dining room, on the lawn or in the outdoor boma area around the fire.
In our opinion...
This is probably one of the best value game viewing locations in South Africa. Whilst the lodge facilities could be considered quite basic (for a 5 star lodge) compared to some of it neighbours, with their private plunge pools and spa treatments, the game viewing at Kirkmans is superb. So if your priority is seeing animals, Kirkmans should be top of the list.
