Overlooking the legendary Chiefs Island and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Gunn's Camp is one of the last few remaining luxury, vintage safari camps. Set under leafy palms and African Ebony to blend naturally with its unique surroundings, Gunn's Camp achieves a fine balance of comfort without isolating guests from the sights and sounds of the wilderness.
Your African experience starts with a twenty minute light aircraft transfer from Maun over the south-western Delta, taking in the magnificence of the winding, papyrus fringed channels that make up one of the worlds greatest wet land wonders. You will be able to see some of Africa's most celebrated animals from a bird's eye view - 500 FT above the ground.
On arrival at the private airstrip on Ntswi Island, deep in the delta, you will be met by welcoming hosts and shown to your choice of tented accommodation which consists of 6 new luxury vintage safari tents with lounge, ensuite bathrooms, own private viewing decks and beautiful teak furniture. All tents are set on raised platforms overlooking the delta plains and unsurpassable views of the meandering waterways. The island is connected to the main camp by a small causeway crossing the wetlands and magically lit by a series of fairylike lanterns. Guests have access to the elevated bar, lounge and dining room, campfire boma and swimming pool.
Ways to explore the area.....
Become part of the bustling river life by easing between the papyrus clad banks on traditional 'mokoro' canoes. These are propelled from the stern by skilled 'poler' guides, allowing the guests to sit back and absorb the scenery. For full day trips, Gunn's Camp prepares delicious picnic lunches which can be enjoyed on a Delta island after an exhilarating bush walk.
Explore the wilderness on foot under the guidance and education of your own personal guide. Feel your senses ignite as you become part of life in the bush and encounter game without the parameters of a vehicle.
A great way to explore the crystal clear channels of the Boro River, motor-boat cruises are organised in time to toast the unprecedented African sunsets while drifting on a lagoon in the middle of the Okavango Delta. Watch as the mutating colours are reflected in the smooth waters, disturbed only by dipping swallows or curious hippos. (Gunn's Main Camp only, unless by prior arrangement and subject to delta water levels)
