A wonderful 6 night / 7 day tour that highlights include: The Kalahari Desert, Fish River Canyon, Lüderitz, Namib Desert & Sossusvlei and finally Swakopmund.
Saturday (Kalahari) - Travel into the largest sand mass on earth, the Kalahari Desert. With its deep red sand dunes and endless grass plains interspersed with Acacia’s and shrubs, it is the only form of survival for a vast amount of specially adapted wildlife.
Sunday (Fish River Conservation area) - Pass through expansive rocky plains, visiting the unique Quiver Tree forest. Nestled amongst huge dolerite boulders, some stacked so mysteriously that it seems impossible that they were created by natural forces.
Monday (Luderitz) - Our morning starts on the edge of the Fish River Canyon, where you can see 550 meters into this magnificent geological phenomenon, the second largest of its kind on earth. Afterwards travel down the Great Escarpment and into the stretched plains of the Namib Desert, later giving way to the shifting dunes of the Prohibited Diamond Area.
Tuesday (Southern Namib Desert) - This morning the ghost town of Kolmanskop reminds one of the opulence and decadence of the diamond rush days of the early 1900’s. Now it stands barren to the harsh wind and heat of the unforgiving desert. Travel north to our lodge in the Namib desert, situated in close vicinity to the breathtaking Sossusvlei.
Wednesday (Southern Namib Desert) – Early this morning witness the first rays of sunrise paint the mountains of sand into a variety of apricot, red and orange, contrasted against a crisp blue skyline. This provides some awesome photography opportunities. After the dunes we visit the Sesriem Canyon, a life sustaining natural phenomenon in the heart of the Namib Desert.
Thursday (Swakopmund) - After breakfast we travel through the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons, where we visit the Vogelfederberg prior to traveling to the quaint coastal town of Swakopmund.
Friday (Windhoek) - We enjoy the morning in Swakopmund at leisure; in the early afternoon we travel back to Windhoek where the tour ends
